The Enterprise Security Enhancement (ESE) helps Ukrainian businesses invest with greater confidence in a high-risk environment. If assets financed under an eligible EBRD-supported investment loan are damaged as a result of war-related events, part of the outstanding loan may be repaid on the borrower’s behalf, reducing debt pressure and helping the business recover faster.
Once the damage occurs, the borrower assesses the loss and submits the completed ESE Application Form to the PFI.
The PFI verifies the damage and forwards the claim to the EBRD.
The EBRD reviews the claim and provides partial compensation through the PFI.
The compensated amount does not remain payable by the borrower, meaning that the borrower’s debt burden is reduced accordingly.
Which loans qualify for ESE?
Any loan issued under the EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line with Incentives may qualify for ESE, as long as the ESE feature is included in the agreement between the EBRD and your bank or leasing company. As of today, the ESE feature is available only through PrivatBank and Raiffeisen Bank Ukraine.
Going forward, however, ESE is expected to become a standard feature across all PFIs.
